Our region is seeing an increased number of cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), and Arlington County Government is taking steps to help mitigate and contain the spread of COVID-19. The 2020 Community Development Bus Tour has been postponed. Stay tuned for the new date.
While events and public gatherings are hallmarks of our community, they also are opportunities for a virus to spread quickly among event workers and participants. Moving forward, many events or meetings will be cancelled, postponed, or modified to better protect our residents and County staff. Stay updated here.
The 2020 Community Development Tour will begin and end at Bozman Government Center, located at 2100 Clarendon Boulevard.
Join us for Arlington’s annual celebration of Community Development Week on a bus tour of affordable housing and community development projects. This year’s tour will showcase a variety of projects that leverage federal, state and local resources to create maximum impact for low and moderate income residents. Featured projects include:
- Culpepper Garden – see building renovations, and learn about the expanded volunteer program and Innovations in Healthy Aging technology projects at unique low-income senior apartment complex.
- Moderate Income Purchase Assistance Program – meet a first-time homebuyer who participated in the County’s down payment and purchase assistance program.
- Gilliam Place – see new affordable housing complex, including the La Cocina kitchen incubator and café for culinary arts program.
The tour will pick up participants by the flagpole in the plaza outside the building.
