The Arlington County Community Services Board (ACCSB) recognizes staff and community members who demonstrate outstanding dedication and service to consumers with Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The Dr. Audrey Moss Award recognizes a staff person whose work demonstrates a fresh perspective, recovery-orientation, and visionary thinking and who is committed to community-based care. The Exemplary Staff Award is conferred on staff that embodies the spirit of outstanding service in their field. And the Community Partner Award is given to community members who, through their generous donations of goods, services, time or funding, support the ACCSB’s consumers. The ACCSB selected four staff and two community partners to be recognized this year:
Ms. Meryl Davis, a Discharge Planner, received the Dr. Georgopoulos Award and was nominated by Ann Courembis for her “hard work and optimistic outlook.” Ms. Courembis stated that Ms. Davis “inspires consumers and colleague’s alike [and believes] that recovery and stability are an eventual, attainable goal for everyone.”
Dr. Grace Langebeck, Supervisor of the Forensic Case Management Program, received the Dr. Audrey Moss Award and was nominated by Leslie Weisman. Ms. Weisman stated of Ms. Langebeck, “She has a flexible attitude which allows her to “think outside the box” and work with her staff to serve our clients with compassion and commitment.” As a special guest, Mr. Tom Arnold, father of the late Dr. Moss, presented the Award along with Ms. Skelly.
Ms. Tisha Jones-Diggs, a Case Manager/Therapist, and Ms. Manisha Adhikari, an Administrative Assistant, both received Exemplary Staff Awards. Mr. Cahill, also a consistent ACCSB supporter, has brought cheer and tasty nourishment to the residents of one of the residential facilities on a regular basis. Mr. Cahill has also offered employment opportunities to consumers with disabilities. Each of these community partners should be commended for their support.
