Arlington County Administration Regulation 4.4 calls for an assessment of the environmental impacts of County-funded projects. Environmental assessment guidelines are designed to help County staff carry out such assessments. A checklist is provided to identify the environmental and energy impacts of proposed projects and develop strategies to avoid or minimize them.
An Environmental Assessment is not required for all projects. Admin Regulation 4.4 currently excludes such projects as road and sewer maintenance and exempts others, such as those with no impacts at all on vegetation, noise, or other environmental concerns. To determine whether a project is excluded or exempt, please check sections 3.2 and 3.3 of the Regulation.
